A QUICK GUIDE
How to use image rotate & flip
Rotate a photo clockwise by 90, 180 or 270 degrees, or flip it across its original horizontal or vertical axis. Check the exported preview before downloading a new image. Your original file stays unchanged.
- Choose one static JPG, PNG or WebP image.
- Choose a clockwise rotation and optional horizontal or vertical flips. Flips are applied along the original image axes before rotation.
- Choose the output format, process the image and download the previewed result.
Turn a landscape image into a portrait
Rotating an 800 × 600 image clockwise by 90 degrees produces a 600 × 800 image. The original bottom-left corner moves to the top-left. Turning it by 180 degrees keeps its dimensions.
Good to know
- Only quarter turns are supported, so rotation does not need to invent pixels along angled edges.
- The browser applies EXIF orientation when decoding the original; the selected rotation is applied after that.
- PNG and supported WebP preserve transparency. JPG uses a white background. Exporting re-encodes the image and does not preserve arbitrary metadata.
Common questions
What happens when I flip and rotate together?
Horizontal and vertical flips use the original decoded image axes first. The chosen clockwise rotation is then applied. This order is fixed so the result is predictable.
Can I rotate by an arbitrary angle?
This tool supports 0, 90, 180 and 270 degrees. Arbitrary angles, animation and batch processing are not supported.
