A QUICK GUIDE

How to use image resizer

Resize a photo or graphic to a specific width and height. The proportions are locked by default, so changing one dimension updates the other.

  1. Choose a JPG, PNG or WebP image.
  2. Enter the width or height in pixels. Keep the aspect ratio locked to avoid stretching.
  3. Choose the output format, resize the image and check the final dimensions before downloading.
TRY THIS EXAMPLE

Resize a 2400 × 1600 photograph

Set the width to 1200 with the aspect ratio locked. The height becomes 800, preserving the original 3:2 shape. This reduces the total pixel count to one quarter of the original.

Good to know

  • Unlocking the aspect ratio lets you enter independent dimensions, which can stretch the image.
  • Enlarging an image adds interpolated pixels; it does not recover detail that was not present in the original.
  • Dimensions are pixels. This tool does not set print sizes or DPI metadata.

Common questions

How is resizing different from cropping?

Resizing changes the dimensions of the whole image. Cropping removes part of it. To fit a square frame without stretching a landscape photo, crop it to a square first and then resize.

Will resizing make the file smaller?

Reducing pixel dimensions often helps, but file size also depends on the format and image content. The tool shows the actual output size rather than assuming a saving.
