A QUICK GUIDE

How to use image cropper

Keep the part of an image that matters. Drag a selection on the preview or enter exact crop coordinates and dimensions in pixels.

  1. Choose an image and select Free, 1:1, 4:3 or 16:9.
  2. Drag a selection or enter its position and size. The crop must stay inside the original image.
  3. Crop the image, inspect the exported preview and download it.
TRY THIS EXAMPLE

A square profile picture

Select the 1:1 ratio, then position a square around the subject. A crop width of 600 pixels gives a height of 600 pixels. Use Image Resizer afterward if the destination requires a smaller square.

Good to know

  • Crop coordinates use the original decoded image pixels, even when the preview is scaled down to fit your screen.
  • Cropping removes surrounding pixels from the output. It does not automatically detect faces or remove backgrounds.
  • The numeric fields provide an alternative to dragging for keyboard and precise positioning.

Common questions

Does cropping change the image quality?

The selected region keeps its pixel dimensions, but exporting to JPG or WebP can introduce lossy encoding. PNG is available when you need a lossless export of the selected pixels.

Why does my selection look smaller on a phone?

The preview scales to fit the available screen width. The crop fields still show the actual source pixel coordinates and dimensions.
